New! Schlaifer's is offering Beginning Enameling Workshops. Classes are limited to 4 students to allow for individual attention. Our first workshop is March 8th and 9th. Cost is $200.00 for both days. We will be covering the basics of enameling. Joan Schlaifer will be the instructor. If you are interested please give us a call. 800-525-5959

Brilliant color on the surface of metal is a rich art form dating back to ancient times. Explore the techniques and materials of enameling using contemporary techniques.

Students will learn to produce items of jewelry or wall plaques in enamel using various techniques including cloisonné, basse-taille, roller printing and Limoges. They will learn to work in either silver or copper. Enamels are available in the classroom; the class will be emphasizing the new lead free product. Students will be taught the proper handling and firing of enamels. Metals many be purchased in the classroom. There will be a $10.00 materials fee payable at the first class for replacing supplies. The Students will be responsible for the purchase of their own metal. The first project costs approx. $2. The Cloisonné project is aprox. $4 to $6. This class is small enough to individually tailor the teaching to your needs.
